About us and our project

RedStar Miniatures is us, Christian & Eric. We are longstanding wargamers in our forties, and maybe better known by the name of our little Belgian club, “Les Chemins de Feu”. We always had the dream that all people “playing” with or collecting miniatures have: to own our own brand. By owning, we mean to be able to get that particular range we have been dreaming of for such a long time, to get that particular miniature in that particular pose or with that special gun or equipment… The dreams of wargamers are boundless, transcending time and space in military history, each one maybe more foolish than the other. But in general, they are just that … dreams. Availability of time and money are unfortunately the “natural born killers” of a lot of our dreams.

Nevertheless, after finding a fantastic sculptor a little bit by coincidence, we decided to have a go at this one. Our calculations showed that we will never get rich, for sure, and that we even could loose money. But in the end we decided that it was worth it! We just hope not to loose too much. Your support from the very start is critical to allow us to get more and more fine miniatures on the market. It is you, the wargamer and collector, who will decide if you want this effort and work of love to continue by buying our first products when they get out. We will try to work step by step. If the first step is successful (i.e. if the first range sells well) it will enable us to take the next one.

And finally, here it is: the start of our first range: “Chechnya wars”. We really hope that you will like these miniatures as much as we did when we first saw the greens. We are convinced that the “Chechnya Wars” range will be doing well. And if that happens we have lots of ideas waiting to become reality. Foremost the “War That Never Was” between NATO and the Warsaw Pact in the 80’s and then the second Gulf War with the drive to Baghdad in 2003 (Generation Kill series style). But we will really rely on your comments and suggestions to steer us in this or that direction.
We hope that you will be out there to support our project and that we together will be able to make a long and pleasant journey in modern conflict wargaming. Come on, buy lots of our miniatures and allow RedStar Miniatures to make a lot of other dreams come true. For us but in particular for you.

One last word about our talented sculptor, Sergey Traviansky-Menelaev (Menelay). Sergey lives in St-Petersburg, Russia, and is, until now, mostly renowned for his 1/35th work. You are seeing here his first foray in the 28mm world.
